Lakefield War Veterans > Acknowledgements

This website is dedicated to our local War Veterans many of whom have provided the ultimate sacrifice for their fellow man, and aims to provide an archive in which their selfless sacrifices are to be remembered forever. We extend our gratitude to the families who were happy to share their military and personal information and photos to help publicize this information for all to share.

Special thanks go to Donald Webster for his many thoughts and ideas and for following through with the numerous requests sent to Veterans Affairs for the military records of our local War Veterans who gave the ultimate sacrifice. We also thank Don for his many hours of interpreting these documents and putting together a military and personal history for these brave men.

Special thanks go to Neil Wasson for his work with Don in helping to gather military and personal information to complete each Veteran’s archive.

Special thanks go to Ted Morin and Mike Chappell who took over the work after Don and Neil’s death in helping to interpret the military information and compile many of the War Veterans’ histories.

Special thanks go to Sheila Garrett for her dedication, research and many hours of work to support the project.

Special thanks go to Jenna Clark, Program Officer, Commemorative Partnership Program, Commemoration Division, Veterans Affairs Canada, for her assistance in obtaining funding for this massive undertaking.

Special thanks goes out to the Honorable Erin O’Toole, P.C., C.D., MP for granting us funding to proceed with this very worthwhile project.

Appreciation and thanks goes to www.greatships.net for pictures of ships on which the War Veterans were transported.

We thank all of our current, past, and future War Veterans for their dedication and service to their land.

Finally, we thank all the visitors to this website for taking the time to honor those who have honored us.

“On the battlefield, the military pledges to leave no soldier behind. As a nation, let it be our pledge that when they return home, we leave no veteran behind.” – Dan Lipinski
